Replacing Your Current System with A Heat Pump?

If you have an old heater, in addition to an aging air conditioner, there is no reason to replace them both separately. Consider upgrading to a heat pump system from the pros at All Temp Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc.  Any new heat pump model on the market will have far higher energy efficiency than a system that’s 10 to 15 years old. When you are considering a heat pump replacement, look for the ENERGY STAR label to ensure you are getting a system that will offer you the most for your money. We offer a large selection of energy saving heat pumps, including packaged units and ductless split heat pump systems.

It is important to know that efficiency ratings do not take into account overall home efficiency. It is important to make sure your home has the proper insulation to get the most savings from a high–efficiency heat pump. Before you start looking at heat pump options, it is typically a good idea to speak to our team, so that you make an informed decision. Contact All Temp Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. if you want to know more about saving energy or upgrading to an ENERGY STAR heat pump.

Proper Maintenance For Your Heat Pump

At All Temp Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., we offer a comprehensive heat pump maintenance program. Your heat pump needs routine maintenance to operate efficiently & safely while also helping to lower utility bills. While there are some easy tasks you can do yourself, we recommend having our professional team provide you a thorough inspection & cleaning at least once a year. During the annual heat pump tune-up and exam, our technicians will also make any necessary repairs and charge the refrigerant if necessary. However, if you have lost refrigerant, that means you have a leak, which requires a repair.

An important factor to remember about heat pump maintenance is that these systems are 2-in-1. Since they function as both a heating system & an air conditioner, which both need an annual tune-up, you will want to schedule heat pump maintenance every 6 months. This will ensure you avoid the costliest and most emergent of repairs. However, if you need prompt heat pump repairs, then All Temp Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. offers emergency services.

How Do Heat Pumps Work?

A heat pump works using the same principles as an air conditioner but has the ability to warm your home as well as cool it. It does this by extracting heat from the air in one space and transferring it to another. When used to heat your house, it pulls heat from outside and transfers it inside your home. To cool your space, it extracts the warmth from inside and sends it outside. It does all this through the use of a heat exchanger, which uses a special refrigerant liquid that evaporates and becomes heated through a compressor.

Heat Pump Benefits

There are many reasons why a growing number of homeowners are choosing to have heat pumps installed in their homes. A big reason is the fact that they can heat & cool your space with a single unit, eliminating the need for a furnace & air conditioner. They also dehumidify a room when used as a cooling system, meaning you will not need to have a separate dehumidifier. Another big advantage is that they are more energy-efficient than other types of HVAC equipment, using only electricity and producing no carbon emissions of their own. Their compact footprint also means they do not take up as much space as other heating & cooling systems.

Replacing Your Heat Pump

A properly functioning heat pump should provide you and your family with many years of comfort. However, there are some indicators that your unit may not be working as well as it should and might need replacing. These include higher-than-expected utility bills, strange noises & frequent repairs. Heat pumps that are more than 10+ years old are prime candidates for replacement because the average unit has a lifespan of 10 to 15 years. Upgrading to a newer model can offer you greater efficiency and reduce the risk of costly repair work. Whatever warning signs you are experiencing, then contact the heat pump pros at All Temp Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. today to schedule an appointment.
